Caloree is a calorie tracker app designed specifically for iPhone users who are interested in monitoring their daily calorie intake and maintaining a healthy diet. The app has a wide range of features that allow users to easily track their food intake, scan barcodes, and monitor their weight.
One of the main features of Caloree is its food diary. Users can log their meals and snacks throughout the day, allowing them to easily monitor their calorie intake and track their progress towards their health goals.
To make logging meals even easier, Caloree also includes a barcode scanner. Users can simply scan the barcode of any packaged food item to quickly and accurately log their intake. This feature saves time and reduces the chance of errors, making it easier for users to stay on track with their calorie goals. Caloree's database includes more than 2 million foods, making it easy for users to scan or find and log a wide range of meals and snacks.
In addition to food tracking, Caloree also includes weight tracking. Users can log their weight regularly to monitor their progress and see how their diet and exercise habits are affecting their overall health. This feature can be particularly useful for those looking to lose weight or build muscle.
Caloree follows a privacy-first principle meaning that it won't track and/or sell user data in any way. In fact, Caloree is built in such a way that all foods are stored in the app so that it does not need to talk to any servers at all.
Finally, Caloree includes support for Apple Watch. This means users can quickly and easily log their meals and track their progress right from their wrist. This feature is particularly useful for those who are constantly on the go and want to stay on top of their calorie tracking without needing to pull out their phone.
The app is free to use, but a pro-version of Caloree exists that can be unlocked via a one-time in-app purchase. Features that are unlocked with the pro-version: all 2+ million foods, barcode scanner, support for Watch, planning 1 week in advance. Additionally, quite a few pro-features are in the pipeline for 2023.
Caloree is being built and maintained by solo-developer Peter Norff who has written apps for the iPhone since it was introduced in 2007. Peter's motivation building Caloree is to make learning healthy eating habits affordable, simple and enjoyable. Peter lives with his wife and kids in Cologne, Germany.
